East Asian Studies Graduate Student Program

Since 1990

This program, which began in 1990, is open to students who have successfully completed, or are currently enrolled in, the KFAS Classical Chinese Studies Program and are further pursuing East Asian studies. Recipients of this 3-year scholarship are selected after written examinations.

Eligibility Korean citizens who are enrolled in an M.A. or Ph.D. program at a leading university in Korea; must be a full time student and not working
Fields of Study Humanities and Social Sciences
Number of recipients selected Annually, approximately ten recipients are selected
Process First round: Written examinations in English and Classical Chinese.
Second round: applicants who have successfully passed the first round of examinations are invited to the final interview.

Official TOEFL score report (if you are planning on studying abroad)
Selection  period March of each year

※ Scholarship recipients who wish to pursue their graduate studies abroad must indicate this intent on their application and statement of purpose.

Fellowship awarded

This fellowship provides tuition, and a stipend to cover living expenses, as students pursue their Ph.D.s. Recipients who wish to complete their graduate study abroad are subject to further evaluation

Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Graduate Student program

This program supports Korean students who are currently pursuing their graduate studies in engineering or computer science at leading graduate programs in Korea, aspiring to become scholars or specialists in their field.

Academic journal publications, research reports, papers and other supplemental materials may be submitted, but are not required.

Training program

Scholarship recipients are required to participate in an English class and special seminars in their field of study. This training program is similar to the one attended by students majoring in social sciences.
